MV hosted Mr. Ryan Fox, the Store Manager for "The Home Depot" store in Topeka, KS for our Career Speaker series. Ryan spoke to the JH and HS students about his career pathway, the corporation as a whole, and the many jobs/careers found at "The Home Depot." A big thanks goes out to Ryan, and all the career information he provided. #MVfutures #MVandTHD #THDcareers

Viking Family--All too often we sometimes find ourselves getting wrapped up in the negativity of the world that often seems to surround us, but here is just another example of the GREAT students and staff that we have at Mission Valley. The following is an email that USD 330 received from KSHSAA that was sent to them from one of the officials at our recent JH Football game vs Chase County. "Good Morning Mark---Our crew did a junior high 8-man game between Mission Valley and Chase County. I just wanted to make you aware of a pretty amazing thing that I saw and heard last night. Prior to the game, Chase County had issues with this PA system when the National Anthem was supposed to be played. In some circumstances, I've seen games played without it. In this case, the entire Mission Valley football team, and their coaches, sang the National Anthem for all to hear! As a 35-year Army Veteran, I can't let this go unnoticed! I thanked them all but thought maybe an email from you to their AD to let them know it didn't go unnoticed would have a larger effect than a simple thank you from an official." GREAT JOB JH Football team & Coaching Staff---THANK YOU for representing Mission Valley in such a positive manner!!! GO VIKINGS

The 7th/8th grade students completed their two-part lesson on Self-Regulation today. The students finished up by understanding the definition of self-regulation, what is needed to attain success using the 4-step self-regulation method (Making a Plan, Monitoring your Plan, Making Changes, and Self-Reflection), and by creating plans for certain scenarios in order to have practical, on-hand knowledge of this method. Self-Regulation is a concept that will help directly impact success in academics, behaviors, activities, relationships, and life. #MVisRegulating #MVSuccess

Today, the 6th graders went out to the football field for math class! They did different exercises and then used their totals to work on filling out tables and work on ratios. They had a lot of fun and learned a lot!

On Wednesday, October 9th, Jonah Hancock and J'Lynn Wiseman sang the National Anthem at the Capitol in the House Chamber for the Kansas Silvered Hair Legislature. They did an amazing job and enjoyed learning about this amazing group of people. Thank you to Chuck Schmidt for inviting us to sing in such an amazing venue.

GREAT THINGS continue to happen in and around USD 330 Mission Valley. Several students (Layton Chesmore, Drake Duncan, and CJ Durkes), accompanied by Mr. Matt Bisnett, from Mission Valley traveled to Wabaunsee High School to join together in celebrating a joint effort between the Wabaunsee County Sheriff's Office, USD 330 Mission Valley and USD 329 Wabaunsee. The Sheriff's Office and school districts were recently informed that the county had once again been awarded the COPS Grant. COPS Hiring Program (CHP) – CHP grants provide 75 percent of the approved entry-level salaries and fringe benefits of each newly hired and/or rehired full-time officer, up to $125,000 per officer position, for three years (36 months) of salary support. With the strong support of Senator Jerry Moran (pictured), Wabaunsee County was awarded $249,000 for the continuation of the School Resource Officer program in the USD 330 and USD 329 school districts. Wabaunsee County received one of only four grants provided in the State of Kansas. USD 330 Mission Valley also would like to thank the Senator Moran, Wabaunsee County Sheriff's Office as well as our own dedicated School Resource Officer (Officer King) for their continued mission of supporting the needs and safety of our students, staff, and visitors.
